Influenced by adventure, nature and a serious case of wanderlust, Steven Abernathy is an abstract artist that is most known for his large scale statement pieces and art installations. Whether at home in Nashville or roaming the earth with his partner, Claire in their vintage Airstream, Steven harvests inspiration from nature and his life as a beekeeper, honey bourbon maker and artist. The sole purpose of his art is to ignite imagination and create connection.

Coming from a long family legacy of painters, sculptors and innovators, creativity and self expression are a natural way of life for Steven. From an early age, his Dad encouraged him and his brother to create art out of everything, developing their imaginations by always finding objects and creating together as a family. He can still hear his Dad saying, “One man’s trash can always be turned into treasure,” as they would adventure about collecting objects and building art pieces from their findings.

Steven currently curates Billy Reid Nashville with his art, having been featured on “Growing Up Chrisley.” Twice a year you will find him at Marburger Farms in Round Top, Texas, displaying his artwork and hand carved fungi sculptures.

This past Spring, Steven’s mushroom sculptures caught the eye of the beloved Joanna Gaines and will now be featured as a design element in this upcoming season of Fixer Upper: Castle Edition. Other celebrity and professionally designed homes, such as the home of country singer, Gary Allan, features his custom conceptual art installations.

Currently, Steven is partnered with Billy Reid, Velvet and Linen’s Brooke Giannetti with Giannetti Home, Leiper’s Fork Distillery, and The Turnip Truck where his artwork is displayed on their Greenwood Honey Company honey bottles, honey bourbon bottles and artistically designed beehives for their properties.

As a way to never stop challenging his mind to explore new territories of growth, Steven uses a variety of oils, charcoal, wood, and found objects. His ever evolving work encourages his audience to wildly anticipate what he will create next and to receive it with fresh expectations.
